I know I’m not the only one who has suffered from annoying nights of exhaustion when, no matter what you do, you just can’t fall asleep. You feel so tired, yet your body doesn’t want to agree with you. I even created my #Jensomnia game night on Twitter, so fellow insomniacs can stay up and entertain each other. While there’s no guaranteed way to make yourself fall asleep, here are some helpful tips for reducing the late-night frustration:
• Pay attention to what you eat and drink throughout the day. Limit caffeine and sugars, but load up on things like bananas, almonds and milk — they contain tryptophan, which helps regulate sleep. Also, don’t go to bed hungry. The last thing you need while you’re trying to sleep is the annoying grumbling in your stomach.
• Exercise in the morning, instead of the evening. Not only does it wake you up, it also helps you burn calories throughout the day — so it’s a win-win!
• The No. 1 thing we all do when we’re trying to fall asleep is overthink anything and everything. Try to reduce stress levels before bed to put your mind at ease. Take a warm bath, use aromatherapy, meditate or even do yoga to help wind down for the night.
• Establish a bedtime routine and stick to it. For example, if you take a bath, read or drink hot tea before bed every night, your body is more likely to get into a habit and make it easier for you to fall asleep.
These are just a few ideas to try, but when all else fails, hop on Twitter and keep me company
@JennyMcCarthy — we can complain about our insomnia together!
What are some things that have helped you fall asleep at night?
After having great sex, I sleep like a baby. LOL 🙂
I think that warm milk and a evening shower plus yoga for my insomnia maybe benadryl too.
I find a good martini helps
Great tips Jenny! Looking forward to your next Jensomnia and I find that reading helps me fall asleep.

Worst thing is to think about sex…Let your mind drift
imagine a dream like scenario, could be anything, more
absurd the better. Having coffee with squirrel..fine.
I have found using the mind for something outside
of day to day life is effective in drifting off to sleep
Great tips Jenny 🙂 I personally try and have routine but about the only thing that stays constant is my bowl of cereal at bedtime. It’s not the healthiest option but at least I’m not hungry 😀
I need to work on the morning workout thing. Any tips on having the energy in the AM to exercise?
Can’t wait for the next Jensomnia!! I’ll make sure to triple my caffeine intake for that!!
XOXO

Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
